Walk With Maasai Warriors information page

Walk distances, start times and route maps

There is a choice of 3 walks, all starting and finishing at Ely Cathedral for a  free performance by the Maasai Warriors at 2.30pm. Please email us to  tell us you are coming, so we have an idea of the numbers.

Sunday 31st October:
(Please remember that the clocks go back on the 30th/31st.)
10 miles, starting at 10 am.
5 miles, starting at 12 am
2 miles, starting at 1 pm

The 2 mile walk is wheelchair and buggy friendly, the 5 and 10 mile are not. As the footpaths used on the 5 and 10 mile routes cross railway lines, under 16s should be accompanied by an adult.

Information about Ely
Ely, full of charm and beauty is the home to one of the most magnificant cathedrals in England. The bustling city is nestled within the Fen countryside in east Cambridgeshire and boasts attractions including a beautiful waterside area, the Babylon art gallery, the beautiful Jubilee gardens and the home of Oliver Cromwell, all of which you will pass on the walks. Having taken in all the history, beauty and done all the walking you will be in need of some good refreshments so leave yourself half an hour after the show to visit Peacocks tea room named the UKs best tea room 2007.
Car Parking. Follow signs for the free Cathedral carpark.

On the day

Meet the Maasai Warriors at the entrance to Ely Cathedral about 10 minutes before your starting time. Then enjoy passing the sites and attractions that Ely and its surrounding areas have to offer whilst chatting to the Massai as you walk, before returning to Ely Cathedral for an unmissable, free of charge, performance @2:30 by the Maasai Warriors in the Lady Chapel of Ely Cathedral.




How to get sponsorship

There are 2 ways to fundraise for this event:

1/ by registering yourself as a fundraiser with Virgin Money Giving. Once on the 'Walk with the Warriors' event page, click "start fundraising" then follow the instructions.

Or

2/ by downloading a sponsor form here which can be filled in manually. Please email (info@osiligi.org) us to let us know you are coming.
